Pregnancy Loss Support Services for LGBTIQA+

If you are experiencing miscarriage as an LGBTIQA+ person or partner, you may find mainstream support services helpful. However, you may need specific sensitivity to diverse sexual orientation, gender identity, or sex characteristics. Unless stated otherwise, the listed services are free of charge, and some offer out-of-business hours support.

Since COVID-19: Please note that support services are currently experiencing a high volume of calls and requests for appointments and you may be put on hold until the next available counsellor or volunteer is available.

If you are in a crisis situation, please call Lifeline (13 11 14), Beyond Blue (1300 224 636), or 000 immediately.

Yet, many pregnancy loss support groups and advice are tailored to the care for “women” and people who identify as heterosexual. This specialisation can be isolating when you don’t identify with this gender or pronoun or sexual orientation or have diverse sex characteristics.
